A kitchen deep-clean you can actually do in an afternoon

A kitchen deep-clean is less about elbow grease and more about doing the right thing in the right order. When you start with the random clutter on the counters and work your way from top to bottom, the whole job takes an afternoon instead of dragging across two weekends.

Start with the top of the room

Light fixtures, the range hood, and the upper cabinet faces catch the most grease and are the easiest to forget. A degreaser mixed with warm water and a microfiber cloth will lift cooking film off both the hood underside and the fronts of the upper cabinets. Wipe in the direction of the grain so you don't streak.

Then the small things

Pull out everything on the counters. Wipe down each appliance, the coffee maker, the toaster, and the stand mixer. Pull the microwave out and clean the back — that's where grease migrates and never gets touched during a regular clean. Run a bowl of water with lemon through the microwave for two minutes to loosen food splatter and wipe it away with one pass.

Appliance exteriors next

The fridge, dishwasher, oven, and stove all benefit from a quick once-over with an all-purpose cleaner. Pull the stove knobs and soak them in warm soapy water while you wipe the stovetop. Stainless steel looks best when you wipe with the grain and finish with a dry cloth — that prevents the streaky look that shows up the second you walk away.

Cabinet fronts, then insides

Cabinet fronts collect cooking splatter and fingerprints that don't show up in normal light. A damp microfiber cloth works for most finishes. For the insides, empty one cabinet at a time, wipe the shelves, and put things back. Rotate your stock so older items move to the front.

The floor is the last step

By the time you've done all of the above, the floor has every bit of debris it needs to be worth a real clean. Sweep first — never mop before sweeping, it just makes mud. Then mop from the back corner toward the door so you're not stepping on what you just cleaned.

If you book a deep clean with us

Our deep cleans cover everything in this list and more: inside the oven, behind the fridge, the trash can itself, and the window over the sink. It's the clean that resets the room so weekly touch-ups are quick again.
